Need to Stand Out from Your Competition?

Learn to Train Confident, Well-Behaved Puppies

We know that offering top-tier services goes beyond playtime—it’s about building trust, shaping behaviors, and helping dogs become happy, well-mannered companions. Dog Handler Academy teamed up with puppy training expert Kathy Currie-Eyers from TopDog K9 Services to create Puppy Training 101, which is designed to help one of your seasoned dog handlers gain the skills they need to confidently teach puppies essential obedience skills.

This course is ideal for an experienced dog handler looking to expand their capabilities, giving your facility a competitive edge with enhanced training services. In this course, your employee will explore everything from training plans and clicker techniques to further skills with puppies like gate control and crate training.

The course covers building trust and strengthening relationships with puppies, teaching foundational commands like “Sit,” “Stay/Wait,” and “Come,” training techniques like clicker use, and puppy-specific skills for crate training, gate control, and more.

Skills and Commands

At the end of the Puppy Training 101 course, the employee must submit a video that shows them as the trainer with a pup, demonstrating the following items they’ve learned from this course:

  • Mark and reward.
  • Capturing.
  • Luring.
  • Shaping.
  • Hand check.
